Thank you to the more than 350 people who came out on June 15th to run (and walk) for rhinos at the Philadelphia Zoo! The weather could not have been more perfect. The enthusiasm for saving a species was palpable and the runners were SO FAST! We couldn’t believe when we saw them heading out of the zoo when we were just finishing closing up the registration tables. The shirts designed by Charly Capstone, our friend in Kenya, were a big hit. Thank you again to our sponsors, volunteers, Bryn Mawr Racing Company, the Philadelphia Zoo, and all of the spectators and participants. We are saving one horn at a time because of YOU! We are excited for our 3rd annual Run for Rhinos! We will be back at the Philadelphia Zoo on June 15th for our 5K run / 1 mile walk to save a species!
You can register at https://runsignup.com/Race/PA/Philadelphia/RunforRhinos. Get your family and friends together and form a team (email us at email@example.com for a discount code for 5 or more in your group)! Register by May 20th to ensure you get a run T-shirt. Water and snacks will be available after the run. Medals will be awarded to overall male and female finishers as well as the top 3 finishers in each age bracket.
Zoo admission is included for the day. Spectators can join you by purchasing a reduced-price ticket the day of the race ($18). Zoo members cannot use their membership for admission, but can use their parking benefit.
Last year hundreds of folks came out to say hi to the zoo’s resident white rhino, Tony, as they ran and walked to raise money for these iconic animals. We hope you will join us!
Happy New Year to our supporters! We are quite pleased to share with you that 2018 was our best year yet – we had our most successful fundraising year and funded the move of a second rhino. Our goals for 2019 are exciting – we look forward to helping keep the translocated rhinos safe and supporting the care of orphaned babies. Tuesday November 27th is Giving Tuesday – a day that is devoted to giving. PARCA is participating with our Give 5 So They Can Thrive campaign.
Baby rhinos orphaned when their moms are killed depend on milk to survive. Each bottle costs about $5. We are asking our supporters to save $5 (skip just one grande Starbucks drink or pack lunch one day instead of eating out!) and donate it to the orphaned rhinos on Tuesday (or any time!).

PARCA kicked off the holiday season with our first Crush for the Crash. This wine tasting fundraiser was held at Platform 30 at Beat Street Station in Philadelphia. The delicious hors d’oeuvres and the small plates paired with the wines were catered by Infinity Catering. We tasted 3 whites and 3 reds and a Master Sommelier discussed the wines that we partnered with Buy Rite Liquors on. It was a fantastic night and we look forward to making this an annual holiday event! You can see pictures from the event on our Facebook page.
Next up for us is Giving Tuesday! Giving Tuesday is a global social media movement that happens the Tuesday after Thanksgiving in the U.S. It kicks off the charitable season when, after Black Friday and Cyber Monday, many think about their end-of-year giving. PARCA will be participating in Giving Tuesday and we hope you will check in here and on our social media pages to see the latest in our Milk & Monitors campaign and how YOU can close out 2018 helping us to save a species!

You are invited to join PARCA for our first Holiday Crush for the Crash on 11/1! Join us at Platform 30 @ Beat Street Station in Manayunk for an evening of sipping, tasting, learning, and saving a species.
We will have a cocktail hour from 6-7 with stationary and passed hors d’oeuvres. Then from 7-9, Master Sommelier Bill McKinley will guide us through the 3 whites and 3 reds we will taste. There will be some surprises that night (we’ll share one now…your ticket is also a chance to win one of several great gifts we’ll be giving away to our supporters)! A cash bar will be open all night. Infinity Catering will be providing us with delicious food!
